“Gratuitous Space Battles 2” is a strategic and visually captivating space simulation game that offers players the opportunity to design, customize, and command fleets of spaceships in epic intergalactic battles. Developed by Positech Games, the sequel builds upon the foundation laid by its predecessor while introducing new features, enhanced graphics, and expanded gameplay mechanics. With its emphasis on strategic planning, ship design, and tactical decision-making, “Gratuitous Space Battles 2” provides a unique and engaging experience in the realm of space warfare.
At its core, “Gratuitous Space Battles 2” focuses on strategic battles between player-designed fleets and AI-controlled opponents. The game presents players with a wide array of ship components, weaponry, and technologies to construct their own spaceships, allowing for a high degree of customization and creativity. The strategic depth of the game lies in designing fleets that synergize well, combining different ship classes, weapons, and defensive systems to exploit enemy weaknesses and optimize the chances of victory.
The battles themselves are visually striking, with cinematic depictions of the space conflicts. Players watch as their meticulously designed fleets engage in combat, witnessing the results of their tactical choices and ship designs in real-time. The game’s visual effects, dynamic camera angles, and explosive battles contribute to an immersive and satisfying experience that captures the grandeur of space warfare.
One of the notable features of “Gratuitous Space Battles 2” is the absence of direct control during battles. Players set up their fleets, issue orders, and determine initial formations before the battle commences. Once the battle starts, the AI takes over, executing the planned tactics based on the players’ decisions. This design choice shifts the focus from reflex-based gameplay to strategic planning and decision-making, allowing players to experiment with different fleet compositions and tactics to find effective strategies.
The game features a variety of mission types and scenarios, each presenting unique challenges and objectives. Players must adapt their fleet designs and strategies to tackle diverse challenges, ranging from eliminating enemy forces to defending strategic locations. The strategic layer of the game involves managing resources, researching technologies, and upgrading ship components between battles, providing a sense of progression and customization.
“Gratuitous Space Battles 2” also offers a multiplayer mode that allows players to pit their custom fleets against those created by other players. This mode adds an additional layer of competition and strategy as players compete to build the most effective fleets and devise tactics that outsmart their opponents.
The graphics and visual design of the game have been significantly improved compared to its predecessor. The spaceships, environments, and battles are rendered with attention to detail and visual flair, enhancing the immersive quality of the game. The UI and interface have also been streamlined for better usability and accessibility, ensuring that players can easily navigate and manage their fleets.
In conclusion, “Gratuitous Space Battles 2” is a strategic space simulation game that offers players the chance to immerse themselves in the intricacies of designing, customizing, and commanding fleets of spaceships in epic battles. With its emphasis on strategic planning, ship design, and cinematic battles, the game provides a unique and engaging gameplay experience. Whether players are drawn to the thrill of strategic warfare, the satisfaction of designing their own ships, or the excitement of competing against other players, “Gratuitous Space Battles 2” delivers a captivating journey into the depths of an intergalactic conflict.

Have you ever wanted to be admiral of a huge, sprawling space battle-fleet of your own design? Ever wanted to design a fleet of battle cruisers so powerful they can rip all who oppose them into space dust? Ever wanted to build a battleship with purple rotating radars and 64 engines? Well, we have good news for you…
Gratuitous Space Battles are back! and it’s approximately 50,000 times more gratuitous than before. A completely new ground-up rebuilding of the custom ‘Gratuitous Engine’ gives the game a completely new look, with beam-lasers 10x as ‘beamy’ as explosions 10x more gratuitous.
You now have complete control over the appearance of your ships and can build them from a base hull and a bunch of adjustable visual components so you have control of both the composition AND the looks of your deadly starships. GSB2 retains the core gameplay of the original. This is NOT a standard RTS game, but a management/simulation game about building space fleets and giving them orders. You aren’t the dumb schmuck who actually flies into battle and gets lasered. Leave that to those patriotic and keen young dudes from the outer colonies. Nope, your job is as supreme commander in chief. Sit back at fleet HQ and watch the fireworks as you reduce the enemy to space dust.
Key Features:
- Totally re-coded the graphics engine for uber-explodes
- Every ship in the game is built from a wide range of components which means no challenge will have identical-looking enemies. Huge scope for ship design.
- Super-clever lighting system and mega-parallax system make for a more 3D, cinematic-looking experience, and more gratuitous effects.
- Built-in multi-monitor support. Runs fine (and looks lovely) at 5120 res and beyond.
- New classes of ship, introducing the Dreadnought, the destroyer, and the gunship…
- Carrier modules now bring fighters into battle and refuel them mid-battle. Knock out a carrier to upset those pesky fighter pilots.
- Steam achievements & trading cards at last!
- Formations now survive individual members being lost.
- New support beams allow ships to act as tugs or mobile target-boost assistance vessels.

Final Disclaimer and Instructions from steamunlocked
steamunlocked.one is a platform to download all your favorite games on Steam without the cost. Many anti-virus programs detect game files as a “virus” because the game files contained cracked files that make the game run. A lot of these anti-virus companies get paid to do this, that way you buy the game instead. To prevent this, disable your anti-virus, then re-extract the .zip file and the game will run.
Every game on this site was tested on our own computers, so you can be insured that it’s not a real virus. Anything your A.V. may tell you is a false positive. 99% of the time, the errors come from missing programs. Check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder, and be sure to install all the required software in those folders: DirectX, vcredist, DotNet, etc. Another useful tip is to disable any form of anti-virus programs AND windows defender if the game doesn’t run. Usually, you don’t need to do this, but some AV detect the game files as a “crack” and remove them
